How to Recover Unsaved/Deleted Files in Adobe Photoshop (PSD)

“I was doing my work with Photoshop but it accidentally crashed. I didn’t save the file. Do you know how to recover the unsaved .PSD file on Windows 10? Thank you very much.”

Adobe Photoshop is widely used on designer. The default file format of it is .PSD. You can use it to save file data and allow users to edit the individual layers of an image easily. If you are using older version of Photoshop, such as CS 3/4/5, there is no auto-save to help users to avoid losing data. You need to use professional PSD recovery program to scan your computer and find unsaved and deleted PSD files for you. If you are using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and above, you can use the auto-save feature to get back accidentally deleted or unsaved files in Adobe Photoshop.

Here are the details of recovering unsaved and deleted files from Adobe Photoshop.

1. Enable “AutoSave” function on Adobe Photoshop

Open your Photoshop software on your PC and go to “File” > “Preferences” > “File Handling” > “File Saving Options”. Select “Always Save” and “Automatically Save Recovery Information Every 5 Minutes”

2. How to Recover Unsaved PSD files with AutoSave Function in Adobe Photoshop

If “AutoSave” function is enabled, after restarting the Photoshop program, the unsaved work will appear automatically. If you don’t see the auto-saved PSD file, you can go to the default location where PS saves the unsaved PSD files and find the unsaved PSD files easily.

If you are using Windows computer, the unsaved PSD files will be saved here:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\AutoRecover

If you are using Mac, you can find the unsaved PSD files here:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2017/AutoRecover
